Ultimate Sleeper
OK- I'm kind of a "Mod" freak. I want to build the ultimate sleeper. My car already sneaks up on people and most don't think the car should be as fast as it is- but I want more HP. After doing a lot of research I think I've finally decided to go FI on my Audi. I was leaning towards a Twin Screw SC but the cheapest kit I found was 10k. I found a shop in NC that will build a custom TT kit- install and tune for around 8k. What I haven't been able to find is any good info about the internals on the stock N/A 4.2. Is the bottom end cast or forged? What kind of boost/hp can it handle? Anybody else boost their 4.2's? If so- what issues did you run into? Any idea where I can get an engine rebuild kit, ie- bottom end?
I have a long time to put this altogether- I'm currently stationed in Japan, won't be back home for another 4 yrs. Thanks in advance. |
Trade your car in on an RS-6. In four years, they will be cheap enough.

go old school and run 14-1 compression pistons and forged internals. You'll only be able to run on race gas but you'll get some serious power.

Bob A TT kit properly setup will yield 450-500 awhp - more than enough to get mid 11's or better... I just want to make sure the bottom end will handle it. I already have the brakes, exhaust and suspension on it. Just waiting on the POWER. LOL |
Check out VAST performance. They have done some amazing stuff with Audis, including some people's here as I recall.

meh
FWIW, I always considered the ultimate sleeper car to be the Ford SHOgun. too bad they only made seven of them |
IMHO the ultimate sleeper is a dead stock looking nissan 240zx running a big turbo. Those cars have balls in ways that must be seen to be believed. Or maybe even an old audi 5000 highly tuned... no one suspects older cars can be that quick.
