Post Updating MMI for 2006 A6 for iPod and Rear Camera

Group,

My 2006 A6 S-Line has the Nav, XM, Rear Parking Sensors and Color Center Dash display.

What unit(s) do I need to swap out to providet the iPod / USB Interface to the MMI?

Also, is there a way to have the rear camera install and wired to the MMI?

Thanks,

Ray

Audi has an OEM retrofit for the IPOD that runs about $1,250. An outfit called Dension also sells a retrofit. However, I think Dension recently terminated its relationship with its US distributor.

I don't know anything about retrofiting the camera.

I don't know anything about the rear camera either, but I recently bought the Dension iPod unit from Enfig Car Stereo in New Jersey. I think he's the only U.S. distributor left. www.enfigcarstereo.com The guy's name is Christian.

I was able to install it myself and it works like a dream.

Also, do the controls on the steering wheel control the ipod with this integration kit?

I have a 2005 A6 3.2. I installed the Gateway 500 iPod interface.

The quick answer is yes, the steering wheel controls operate the iPod. The way it works is that it tricks the car into thinking you have a 12 CD changer instead of a 6 CD changer. In the MMI screen for the CD changer, CDs 1-6 are the real CDs and numbers 7-12 are the iPod controls. Check out this YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k07GX7kATro It shows what the interface looks like.
