RE: upper control arms

There easy to do, remove the upper bolts on the strut under the hood, then remove the bolt holding the upper links to the steering arm and bang the links out with a hammer or something cause they get stuck, then remove the 16mm nut for the tie rod end at the steering arm and bang it out, the last bolt would be the bottom strut bolt (18mm) loosen but do not remove it, pull down the strut and swing it towards you out of the fender you don't even have to remove the strut from the car then replace the links one by one. Make sure to place the new links exactly where they were tensioned before so you don't prematurely wear them out.
Install them in reverse order, i usually use a jack under the brake rotor to push the assembly upwards to line up the bolts for the top of the strut, good luck.

RE: upper control arms

In my case, i suspected a trouble to my control arm but a mechanic told me that i needed an audi strut and that the noise is comming from the strut mount.
