Vibration Feel at 83km/h
Hello all,
Sometimes when I am going about 81-83km/h I feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel. At first I put it down to a bumpy road but the vibration goes away if I slow down/speed up. The steering wheel does not visibly vibrate if I let go, I just feel a slight vibration. I'm wondering if this is normal or if I have an inbalanced wheel. I checked and there is no mud/gunk stuck on the rims and it does not look like I tossed a magnet...as I said its a very slight vibration but its noticable only at 80-83km/h. Is it worth it to have my wheel balance checked or should is it sometimes normal and I should just not worry about it?
Thanks!

It could be balancing issue, or just the tires. Many times than not, it is a ghost chase. I would consider a slight vibration only at certain speed range is acceptable. Just leave it alone unless it gets worse.

Had a similar problem it eventually got worse and the steering wheel was visibly trembling at 50mph. I had it aligned and road forced balanced and it 97% went away the rest I think is the tires-broken belt in one of them.
Usually, I notice on my big trucks, that when it starts to shake at a certain speed then goes away as you go faster or slower it is a balance issue.

Taking the car in this week
There is certainly an imbalance somewhere...notice the vibration at 60km, more noticable at 80km and dissapears at 100km. I have to take the A6 in anyways to get a lose seat looked at so I am having them check the tire balance.
About 2 months ago, the girlfriend complained that the steering wheel was vibrating when driving at 80km or higher. It was driven while doing that for about 20 minutes. I took a look and there was a big clump of mud on the inside of the wheel. I knocked it off and that fixed it. But I only noticed the current slight vibration feel since that mud episode. Should I be concerned that the time it was driven when the steering wheel was shaking may have caused damage elsewhere? Or is it more likely I tossed a magnet or knocked one off clearing the mud out?
