Hi everyone,

A guy I know is about to sell his Audi A6 1.8T (150 hp) with 115000 km.
He took good care of it. Regular check-up's and avaerything.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a few advices, pros and cons etc.

I'm mostly interested in engine reliability, how many years or kilometers can I expect out of this deal (with proper maintanance, of course), potential hig-priced repairs and annual costs.

Any advice would be most appreciated, really.

No, an A6.

 

well I think that the reason that he said that, was because the 1999 A6 came in a 2.7 T (2.7 Liter twin-turbo) and a 2.8 (2.8 Liter n/a)

and I could be wrong, but I think that in 99 the 1.8T engine only came in the A4 (someone correct me if I am wronglol )

 

In europe, the A6 came with the 1.8t engine for many years, as well as a diesel. We never saw these over here because, well...I guess there really isn't any demand for it. I would think a car as heavy as the A6 with a engine as small as the 1.8t would be a lousy driving experience.

 

That's right. In Europe they offered a 1.8T version of the A6, so...
Anyway, I'm not actually looking for a heavenly driving experience. I would probably buy this car cause the guy kept it in a great shape and takes extremely good care of it.

Therefore, I need some info on the engine (1.8T) and general maintanence costs of the A6.

 

My suggestion would be to check out the A4 boards and passatworld.com. Since most buyers on this forum do not have the 1.8l engine available to them in the A6, we know very little about them. I know they are prone to sludge issues, but other than that..

Best of luck. I sure wish we could get more engine choices over here.

 

DOH!!.. sorry, im an idiot... totally forgot about the fact that the 1.8T was offered in Europe... hahah I guess that I just assume that everyone has the same engines available to us... I will shut up now lol
