Weird noise from the steering - HELP

I get weird noise from my steering wheel (or somewhere near it) especially when I drive on brick road (granit cubes) or a bumpy/rough road. I tapped on several spots on steering wheel just to demonstrate the noise I get.

The car is Audi A6 C5 3.0 Quattro. Also the same steering on A4 B5.

Any idea what that would be?

some plastic part probably broke loose behind the air bag, take it apart and have a look

If you go that route, do yourself a favor and disconnect your negative battery terminal to avoid an accidental discharge of your air bag(s).

Thank you for your reply.

Do you have any image of this plastic. Can't find it on google. Does any of you have elsa/etka program?

there could be a broken clip, there is a plastic terminal that could be rattling against the side. you would need to get in there and investigate to see whats happeneing
