What size spacers do I need for my car?

RE: What size spacers do I need for my car?
235 = Width of tire in mm
40 = tire wall ratio
18 = rim diameter
When you plus size your rims, you should typically kep the width identical, lower the tire wall ratio (45 to 40 for 18" rims, or 35 for 19") to make up for the larger rim size. Overall diameter and Revolution Per Mile should remain close as you plus size. Discount Tire has a good tire calculator.
If you kept rim size identical (ie 17) but wanted to get a wider tire, you would need to decrease the second # (tire wall ratio) as well. I did that on my Fiat a long time ago.
