Where to get a good quality and value coil pack for the 2.7T
Hi Guys,
I am getting 1136 and 1138 lean codes and misfire codes for cylinder 2 and 4. I am told by the dealer that the lean cods could be caused by the misfires on cylinders 2 and 4 does this makes seance to anyone?
Also I am going to have to replace the coil packs on cylinders 2 and 4, the best price I can find for a 2.7T coil pack is $70. Anyone know of a place where I get one at a better price. I would prefer to go with an OEM replacement if I can as I have had a bad experience with after market parts in my A6.
Thanks
James

Coils on the 2.7t are NOT packs. They are individual coils. I would try swapping with another cylinder before replacing.
BUT before doing that, you also could try swapping the "power output stage" (POS) (Also known as ignition control module and other names.)
It is easy to swap them, they are on top of the air cleaner. You can swap them without removing them... be sure to swap all four connectors. Each controls a bank, one does 1,2,3 and the other 4,5,6. If you swap them and get misfires on 1 and 5, then BOTH POS's are bad... not the coils.

I bought a dirt cheap, brand new coil from ebay and it works fine. I personally think they are all the same, the OEM and generic ones are probably all made in the same factory somewhere in China. I never notice a difference when I go the cheap route

Check with your dealer as they have recalled the coils on the 3.0. I replaced two earlier this year and received a recall notice on my 2002 3.0 that listed the affected year range as 2000-2004. If the 2.7 is not part of the recall check with Autozone. They cost $39.99 and they were OEM VW/Audi coils! My dealer didn't replace these two as he said they were the correct (updated) part numbers.
