Arrow window keeps going down, need help!

sorry to bother you guys but.. it's been snowing for a while and when i went to turn on my car yesterday the stupid wiper blade was on and it threw snow all over the inside of my door, and nothing happened.. went out and came back home to take a nap before going in to work, so on my way to work it felt windy in my car and then i noticed that the left rear window was open, and i closed it, and it kept going down, and thank god a friend of mine was leaving work when i got in and he drove my car back and had the same problem... ended up disconnecting the battery so that it wouldn't keep doing it..

has this ever happened to you or somebody you know? do i just have to wait for it dry up or something?

Default window

This happened to my front window, the mech. had to replace a clip that holds the window and makes it go up and down. Should be 2 on each window.
Hope that helps.
Chris

My driver's side rear window has been doing this randomly for a year. Just before it stops (and before it goes down again), release the window control. If you look at the window, you may see it is cockeyed on the track....either at an angle or slightly off the track. Push it back into place and it may continue to go up from there. It also may help to spray some dry lubricant in the tracks. I believe the ultiumate solution is to replace the clips but when I read up on this a couple weeks ago, there were clips available only for the front windows which left me stymied. Not sure what the fix is for the rear windows, but would sure like to know.

I had it happen on My A8, I eventually got it back up by hitting up and helping it by cupping both sides of the window with my hands as it went up. Better to get to that taken care of before it gets frozen in the down position on you. I also use silicone spray on all of the rubber tracks. You can clearly see the difference, spray the snot out of them every few months. You can get the silicone spray at the Auto store or Hardware store.

Changing the whole regulator would be the fix for the rear ones if clips cannot be found. I know is a more expensive proposition, but it is a fix.
(And of course I'm talking from a C4 perspective)
