05 Rear Deck won't lock
 

Our 05 A8 has developed a problem: the rear decklid will not lock itself down; it will close, make the " winding" noise for lacl of a better term, quits and is not locked. Noticed that the front right edge of decklid raises up while deck is trying to lock. Car has not been hit. Any ideas as to fix ???

It's not uncommon for D3 trunk locks to not work in cold weather.
You can fiddle with it and oil it, but most people end up replacing it to resolve the problem.

If the decklid is out of alignment it could be bent arms, or the latch is in the wrong position forcing it up.
