'07 A8 - strange sound coming from air intake area of engine
 

Hey all,

So I was changing a daylight runner bulb today, it was on the passenger side which is where the air intake and filter is.

To change this bulb you need to remove the air filter enclosure.

When I had the job done, I turned the car on to check the bulb was fixed and started to notice this noise. I couldnt tell where it was coming from so I took a long screwdriver to my ear and various parts of the engine bay.

After touching various areas, it was clear the sound was coming from the air intake systems somewhere.

Removed the air filter enclosure again, put my ear in the tube going away from it and there was the noise again. Its coming from somewhere inside the air intake hose or deeper in the engine.

The sound is fairly random, but happens fairly often, maybe every few seconds.

To describe the sound: its like a shudder/clunk sound with a slight hint of air moving. Its kind of like the sound a stove vent makes when some wind hits the shudders outside, sort of an open close sound has the flaps open and shut with the wind.

Is this normal? Is there something in there doing that or do you believe I have a problem?
