1997 audi A8 Help

[8D] Hi 2 weeks ! 1997 black on black A8 Quattro. 118,000 miles on it. Yeah ,... I think. Pretty good shape, clean , no accidents looks like new, 3 owners, good service records. What a car , for what it can do, how it rides and how it looks, its a keeper (where can I meet a woman like this !). Want to make it last, willing to do what needs to be done but somewhat concerned after reading some previous posts. It has had the 90 K water pump/timing belt service check ! Just did oil change & filter change ..check ! Replaced plugs and ignition coils ...check ! Replaced rear rotors and pads ...check ! Concerns, transmission fluid does not look good, don't believe it has ever been serviced, nothing really dramatic happening with the tranny, no clunks, no whining, no weird fluctuations with the RPM's, BUT it has that not so smooth cruise between 35 and 45 mph, accelerates great though . Audi techs have advised against doing a tranny service at this stage and basically say live with it or replace it. Thought about trying the service and getting the transmission recoded to a "sports mode " described in The AUDI PAGES. Engine sounds a little noisier than I think it should. Headrests don't appear to work. Drivers armrest broken ( can this be somehow glued back in ?) And no cartridge for the CD deck :( I really like this car, can I make it right?
