1997 Audi A8 stalling at any speed

Hi,

I am new to this forum and I am hoping that you guys might be able to help. I have just sold an Audi A8 4.2L quattro ('97 with around 105kmiles) to a gentleman that is now getting intermittent stalling problems. I have driven the car for the 3-4 days that I had it, with no problem whatsoever. The same can be said of the times the buyer took it for 2 testdrives on 2 different days. Well, only days after he bought it, the car stalled on him twice in 1 day. It then stalled again later. The Audi delaership replaced a part (not sure what it is), but problem is still there. Ther are no error codes being given, and there is no check engine light or anything like that. I am trying to help the buyer since I do not want to leave a bad impression... Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Valentino

It could be any number of problems, have a shop do a full work up on it. It might sound stupid, but it did have gas right?

I would tell the buyer to record when exactly the car is stalling. Right after startup? At speed? When accelerating? At idle at a light? Randomly?
THe only way to diaganose is to record this information. If you aren't getting any error codes, and the car is dying it means either the computer is doing something wacky, or the gas is not getting to the engine, probably a fuel injector, or fuel delivery system problem?

As for the Moron who says to 'teach them to drive stick'. Cute, but if you had a brain you would know the A8's never had Manual shift. Stick to your own forum and leave the adults alone.
