Default 1997 oem cd changer has trouble reading burnt discs, though commercial cds are OK

Hi

My cd changer (1997 with delta cc radio) has a hard time reading burnt discs (not mp3, regular audio burnt disc in itunes) but commercial CD's work perfectly.

Is this normal since its such an old cd player or could it be broken? I wouldnt want to buy another cd changer to realise they're all the same afterwards...

Not normal, if audio CD's are burned properly.
I'd try putting a commercial CD in your computer and compare the properties with the burnt ones, to check for "coding" problems with the burned ones.
If the changer reads commercial ones normally, there should be nothing wrong with it...it can't tell the difference, unless something is "off" with the burned ones.

Try different media for your burned discs and try burning them at slower speeds. If that doesn't work, you could always buy the CD-changer unit from my '97 that is collecting dust in my garage.
