1999 A8 Quattro Tranny Slipping

i just bought a 99 A8 quattro and the tranny just started slipping a little bit but only when the rpm is below 1700 rpm if i am above that there are no problems. the vehicle sat for over a year and a half before i bought it and i have no idea the last time the tranny fluid and filter where changed or the oil for that matter. i am just curious if it is something to be really concerned about or is it something that can be fixed by taking it in to have the filter changed and to have audi completely drain and refil the fluid? thanks for any opinions i dont know anyting about audis and im concerned that this tranny is gonna die on me soon!!!

You need a new trans most likely, who did the fluid change for you?

just some random mechanic nobody associated with audi. he did you audi trans fluid and filter. he only did a drain and refil from the pan. he did not drain the torque converter do you think it will change if i did a complete flush

No, audi's have a specific fill procedure that requires monitoring the temperature of the fluid via vag com when filling it. If it gets too hot too fast you won't get enough in without it spilling out the bottom, if you fill it up when its cold, you will get too much in there, both will cause slipping/bucking/surging etc.

Have another person thats familiar with audis do the fluid change.
