2001 A8 2.8 Quattro running rough

Hi Guys,

First post here, so bear with me!

I've had a few Audis and am familiar with their characteristically smooth acceleration. As of late I have noticed that my a8 seems to be running a little rough. It's not so bad (or rather not so noticeable) above 3000rpm but definitely noticeable between 1000-3000.

The car has a full history, (currently 91k) and has just had a long life service at the dealership around 3-4 weeks ago.

I have verified the oil level, and I do top up when necessary.

I've been listening out and the exhaust seems ok, anyone have any ideas on what this could be ?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Ad

Try doing a throttle body alignment (if your car has drive-by-wire throttle - you'll have to verify that). Just disconnect the battery for 30 minutes or so (make sure you have your radio code so you can use the radio when you hook it back up), and then reconnect the battery. Turn the key to full power (right before you'd crank the engine over), and leave it there for a few minutes. If you have DBW, you'll hear a humming noise at the back of the engine - this is the electronic throttle repositioning itself to the proper angle. After that, do a full seafoam treatment on the car. If you search for "seafoam 2.8", you will find the procedure. It's done in three steps, to clean the fuel system, the vacuum system, and the crankcase. The results can be astounding in how well the car runs afterward.
