2001 A8L Radio/Rear Speakers Issue

Can anyone out there help me? I have a 2001 A8L (in espresso brown) that I love but with which I have been having a few problems lately. I have the Bose sound system (I think it was the only one available on the model) and the rear speakers ar enot working. If I turn it up all the way and then put the music in the back, it can be heard - but at about 1/10th of normal volume and sounds muffled and mostly bass. For a while, these speakers seemed to come in-and-out. But now, they are just out. It is not a speaker wire because sound can be heard - just very faintly.

Thanks in advance!

Bill

I would say the voice coil is blown. Take a door speaker out and plug it into the electrical connector in the trunk for the rear speakers, if they sound good your deck speakers are blown, if they sound weak like the other ones its the Bose amp.
Taking out the rear deck speakers requires taking out the rear deck which is a huge PITA, so thats why i recommend plugging another speaker into it by accessing it through the trunk which is easy to access.
