2004 A-8 Steering Wheel Heater Malfunction

Has anyone experienced intermittent problems with the steering wheel heater on their 2004 A-8? On two different occasions, without warning, the steering wheel heated up to an extremely high level. So hot that you could not grip the wheel on the same place for more than a few seconds.

i think your best bet may be to contact the dealer on this one. seems like it'd be a problem with a short between the switch and the wheel orrrr a problem with the wheel heaters temp. limiting system preventing it from knowing when to stop heating.

Thats why audi stopped making heated steering wheels for a while because we kept on having malfunctions like that. You may need an entire new steering wheel or a switch. The dealer can tell you. If it turns out to need a new steering wheel i would just disconnect the circuit because i mean come on, who needs a heated steering wheel.
Seat heaters are more than enough IMO.
