D4 A8 Satnav Update
I have a 2010 D4 4.2 TDI. This upgrade can only be done by the dealer with the car connected to the Audi servers in Germany (the earlier cars could be done with SD Card plus code associated with VIN). The Huntingdon Audi dealers will do it for £243 including VAT - I got my dealership (Northampton) to match the price. If you decide to get it done make sure you note the MMI and Nav Serial Numbers on the MMI display ( I took a picture with my phone)and check afterwards that the car has actually been updated (mine had not!). It is crucial that the update is done in the correct order, otherwise it appears to the Technician that it has all taken but, when the car is disconnected from the Germany server, it reverts to the original. I understand that the MMI firmware must be updated before the Nav firmware. £243 is a ridiculous price but in my case they must have lost money because of the time they spent trying to get it right after I showed them the picture I had taken. I think mine was the first they had done.

Hi, Sorry for dragging up an old'ish post here... but I've been quoted £266 by Boston Audi for the MMI update & Maps. I've seen on eBay a seller (VAG-TECHNIK) offering an update service for MMI 3G+ systems (i.e. the D4 A8). I'd need to take the car to him for this to be done, but he's only charging £118 for the update and maps. It looks like he's sold quite a few, and had good feedback too. He's not too far away from me, so what's peoples thoughts on this? Thanks, Tony
