2014 Audi A8L TDI Tires?

Let me first start out by saying that is is my dream car and it has exceeded my expectations. I am trying to find a tire that I can use with the factory 20" rims that are somewhat quiet and last more than 10-12 thousand miles. I started out with the factory tires, i think they were Pirelli's, I hated them. I then switched to the Conti's and they started out well, but at 12K, they need to be replaced and they got louder over time. I do not drive the car hard, but do about 50K miles a year for my job. There appears to be only 4 choices of tires. Anyone with a recommendation and experience with better results?

Same here... Just replaced my 2005 A8 (D3) which had naff, but quiet and smooth 17" rims, with a 2011 A8 (D4), which has 20" rims. Currently running on Goodyear Eagle F1 with about 5mm tread, and the road noise is shocking from an otherwise silent car!

I might try the Conti's next, but the only other option is to go mid-range and get Nankang or Yoko's, both of which are available in 265/40/20. No idea what they're like though.

Check the tire and size you want on tyreleader website as it will have the EU noise ratings A-F, A being (67-68db and the quietest)

What... The EU noise ratings... What's the EU?

Speaking of the noise rating of tyres... I don't get how they can generalise the ratings across the entire range of a particular make/model of tyre. Surely things like noise and grip would vary according to the tyre size? For example, the Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres that are on my car at the moment probably are quiet if you had say 205/55/17's... but wouldn't 265/40/20 be louder?
