4.2L Billet Oil Tube 077117411A
I just got a call from my independent and they found my coolant leak. Its the dreaded plastic oil cooler tube. They told me they are replacing it with this 1. Is there anything else in this system that needs to be replaced at same time ?

use aluminum not stainless - basic chemistry
I would l take a look at this thread regarding the oil cooler
A8 D2 Oil Cooler Leaking - Need Cost Estimates for Whats Fair - AudiWorld Forums
The plastic audi used is bad, but there is a there is a serious potential problem with using this stainless instead of aluminum
the engine is aluminum, so using a stainless will cause galvanic corrosion, so I would think twice before using stainless, get the bufkin instead
Aluminum Audi Oil Cooler Pipe for 4 2L V8 Engine A8 A6 RS6 Phaeton | eBay
I have no connection to these guys, but the chemistry behind using aluminum in an aluminum block cannot be argued against, and the problems with galvanic corrosion are basic chemistry, so this is not my opinion, just science.
I had my indy shop do the replacement, and they did it for ~$450
good luck,

there's a guy who makes aluminum replacements that look just like the picture posted above. I bought one when my pipe broke and it's been in a couple of years now without issue. he sells on ebay for about $25. the job isn't to bad but you'll need a dealer only "R" gasket that's specific to the early or late D2 engine. it cost me about $65 total to do mine.
