A8 Reliability???
 

I'm considering an 06 A8. I love how is looks, drives and feels. But Consumer Reports tells a terrible story about the expected reliability, especially the "body hardware, power and audio equipment." The 06 A8 I've found has only 28K miles, and was a service loaner at the dealer selling it now. Thoughts? Experience?

I don't know that there are many 06 A8 owners on this forum but I've been following the A8's for over a year now. I currently have a 2007 S4 and when that lease expires one of the cars I'm considering is a pre-owned A8. No matter what A8 year you get I'd highly recommend getting an extended bumber to bumber warranty.

The reliability of the used A8 is terrible. Just bought a 2003 A8L with 69,000 miles and has been nothing repairs. Lucky it had an extended warranty to 100,000 miles. Had the amp on the radio go out, ABS break sensor, oil leak, Rear sun shade break, and both head rest motors out, and it’s in the shop now for grease seal boots and a hydro leak. Do not buy a used Audi without an extended warranty!!!! You will be sorry.

Trouble is these car require everything rubber to be replaced at around 80K and nobody does it then the car breaks down and they call it unreliable. It's no Chevy truck it will not do 100K on gas and 10 oil changes. If you get one either be prepared to put 2-3K in parts into it getting it up to date or search like mad to find one. I bought a 2000 A8 single owner with all of the service records, still has plastic on the floor mats from factory with 130K up to date for $6800.00 because that is what I was looking for ( 3-months to find it). I put 1000.00 into it and it runs nice.

The other problem is the more reliable cars look cheap inside. If you are not a mechanic then you need a warranty it is either or with these cars. You do not want to get caught in the middle.

ive been driving a 98 a8 quattro for over a year now. it had 160000miles on it and i got it for about 4500$ and havent had to put a single cent into it(excluding oil changes and gas) i really just think it depends. shit everyone makes some lemons and truth be told ive had a hell of a lot worse luck with the 3 previous fords that ive owned...the worst of wich was an 03 mustang i purchased in 06 and it only had 40000miles on it..we are talking transmision problems..the cd player didnt work half the time.. and it poped fuses like crazy.

i have 2000 audi a8 with 175k on it and didnt have any problems with the car, the car is sharp and nice, it really depends on who owned and how the vehicle was operated, if it wasnt killed or anything, the car will last a long time

How do you have an A8 when it says you have 4 A6's? LOL. Just curious.

buddy u wanna know the list of audis i have had in the past 2 years, i have dealers license and change my car about 3 months lol, i love audis, their the best cars ever build i can careless that ppl complain about them that they have issues, if u know what you are doing than audi is the best for you but if you're one of those ppl switching from civic to an audi, than better learn audis first before u try to do same crap that ppl do on civics,
