I have a 2006 W12 showing a “ red low oil pressure” warning light. I have always used Mobil1 5w-40 synthetic, every 5k miles, and have about 150k miles. I have new oil and filter, and put on an oil pressure gauge. At cold start up, it shows 70 psi. After a min, 900 rpm shows 68 psi. After 5 min 650 rpm shows 50 psi. Pressure slowly continues to drop to 25 psi after 14 min at 650 rpm. Pressure increases with rpm but eventually decreases with time/temperature.
for 1000 rpm: pressure reads—
65psi after 6 min
52psi after 10 min
40psi after 15 min
I would really appreciate any ideas or help if anyone has seen this before.
Has anyone had to replace the oil pump on a W12??? Or is there a pressure control valve or regulator that can go bad???
