A8l rs???
Hello all, I've recently purchased a 2001 audi A8L RS. My question is, does anyone know where I can find info on this car? I have read more than a few reviews on D2 A8's, but I see no mention of an RS option/model. (?) Any feedback would be appreciated.

There is no such thing. You might have an "S8"
Here is a list with all available options click either A8 and year, or S8 and year, and see what you have. http://www.audiworld.com/model/ |

If it's an "L" and badged that way, it should have long back doors and almost excessive leg room in the rear seat...AND an L can NOT be an S8. If you'd like to post your VIN, I (or anyone with a Bentley) can run the number for Audi's model description. Even if you are unsure of "L" or not, there are a few identifying features that separate an S8 from a standard wheel base A8. |
Fair enough. I'm new to the Audi scene so I must have been fooled on that end. I'm sure it's a A8L. I didn't pay anything extra for the "added wheel and front/back badging, thank God. I will say that whoever was trying to get the whole RS thing across did a good job. Everything looks like it may have come str8 out the factory like that. I never liked people who put deceiving badges all over they car, like an E-class Benz with S600 badging, lol.

Does it have the "A8L" badge on left side of trunk?
Here's how you'll know for sure: Look at your VIN (vehicle ID #) through the windshield outside the car...bottom in front of driver. The 4th letter will tell you the version: WAUML = A8L ...look for the "M" WAUFL = A8 WAUGU = S8 The 10th entry tells you the year (below) The "1" before the "N" tells you it's a 2001 model. Example of a 2001 A8L VIN: WAUML54D51N004453 |
They have made RS4's and RS6's, but never an RS8. If I remember rightly, they all had 4.2 Liter V8s.
