AMI iPod
 

Hey Guys, this has probably been addressed, but due to "AMI" being only 3 letters I cant search it. I would like to add ipod to my 05 A8. The car has the latest MMI update, and no onstar if that matters. Does Audi make an AMI kit for this car? I found some info for adding AMI to a 2006 A6 with MMI and the changer in the glovebox, but I'm not 100% if the info would be the same for the A8. I talked to the dealer about this and they said it would cost about $1000 to have it added. The write up on the A6 said the kit came with the connections you need to split power and data/audio from the cd changer, and that the install should be pretty easy, as it just requires pulling the changer out, connecting to it, and then re-installing it, and then installing the AMI in the spot next to it. If you look in the empty spot next to the changer, it even already has a hole cut in the back to allow for cables.

Dealer said parts are $811.49, which is my employee cost. Sounds crazy to me, and don't get me wrong, I'm not planning to spend $1000 to have ipod connectivity. I can live without it!

It is the ONLY OEM application that will allow you the functionality that you seek. Ofcourse, there are other applications like - Denson 500 etc, but its much more complicated and expensive.

I looked into this several months ago, and unfortunately its going to cost you more than $800 to get that seamless OEM functionality in the kind of vehicle you have.
