Hello all,

I just picked up a used 1997 A8 a few months ago, and I've noticed an intermittent high-pitched buzzy whine in the audio system. Sometimes the whine will go away if I power the stereo off and on, and sometimes it will get louder or softer for no apparent reason. Usually it's the same volume.

Any ideas on where this might be coming from? I've seen a reference one other place that this sort of defect is something to look out for in used A8s, but no mention of what causes it or how to fix.
