dead battery...........A8..............get power
 

hi all.......i recently purchased my first A8 a few weeks ago. its a 96P registered 3.7 Sport.
its been absolutely fine for weeks, then i came out one morning to a completely dead
battery. so hence, with the central locking not working could not open the boot, which was
unfortunate as the key i have does not fit the boot lock and thats where the battery lives.
after hours of trying to work out how to get in the boot, i realised all i had to do was get
power into the battery cables. i found the positive wire under the rear seat on the drivers side
and removed some of the sheath then connected the positive to it via a jump cable, then
negative to the door catch, and hey presto........................I HAD POWER
so all electrics were working again and i was able to open the boot to get to the battery.
just thought i would post this for A8 owners just in case it happened tp you
