Dynamic headlight dimmer control
 

I have a 2000 A8L and my Dynamic headlight dimmer control light comes on the dash everytime I start my car. Is this a serious problem? Is there a simply way to fix it without it costing me alot of money?

Its not something that needs to be addressed right away, you would need to pull the fault codes out of the headlight control module to figure out what the problem is. It could be a faulty headlight adjusting motor, sensor etc.

How do I pull the fault codes out of the headlight control module? Do I connect an scan tool to the OBD plug?

I finally got around to fixing my dynamic headlight dimmer control. Turned-out to be easy. Something must have hit the bracket that holds the linkage on the rear suspension arm. The bracket was bent and the linkage was disconnected from the switch. I removed the bracket, bent it back to its original shape, re-installed it, and then re-connected the linkage to the switch. Presto, the alam light went off. No more problem.

Now just exactly what does this system do? Does it re-aim the headlights when the nose is down (like when braking hard) or the rear is up (like when having a heavy load in the trunk)?
