Interior problem, please advice
2 Attachment(s)
The fabric above the rear break light is coming loose. It is hard for me to reach there in order to fix it or glue it back together (please refer to the attached photo) Question;
1- How can I disassamble that rear break light in order ot fix the fabric? 2- Any other idea? By the way the photo is just a stock photo. Thanks for your help, A. |
Just the fabric? Or, the whole piece that surrounds the CHMSL?

elmer's glue! put a little on your finger-tip and dab/swipe it on the underside of teh fabric, then put it in place. You may hafta put a 9v battery, or similiar weight, to hold it down while teh glue dries. Dries clear in 30-60 minutes.

Thats not a normal thing to happen on the A8. I believe the brake light housing should seperate from the rear deck, that would make it easier to work on. I probably wouldn't try and glue it though. I would completely remove the fabric then get a can of spray adheasive, coat the housing with that and then stretch the fabric back over it. If that doesn't work you can always buy a new one, give the dealer your VIN number and they can match the color and fabric in your car.

The housing does, in fact, come off. The problem *I* had was getting it to firmly re-attach, the way it was. Now, everytime I hit a good, sharp bump or large pothole my housing comes loose. I obviously ham-fisted mine when taking it off to replace my bulb. Any suggestions on how to get it off w/o damaging it would prolly be just as useful, Nate.
My way, you don't risk damaging the housing with ham-sized fists prying it loose. You just need ot be able to get one of those sausage-tips in there to dab a l'il Elmer's and smooth it back in place. |
I will try to glue it first, Will keep you posted.
Thank You |
