I have a 2005 A8 and I am looking to hook up an iPod to it. There is the Audi Music Interface (AMI) but that is around $2500 for parts alone, per the dealer, since it would need a whole new wiring harness and control module.

Is there a less expensive way to achieve this, or, is it even possible to change out that stock head unit? I checked Crutchfield and they have not put this model through their "What fits my car" system.

It does require a minimum MMI version IIRC.

I looked at Crutchfield when I got my '05 and doubt most/any Audi will ever been in their list
