Maintence Schedule for 2001 A8

I recently purchased a 2001 A8 with complete maintence records. The previous owner had everything done to the book.
4 Brakes done at 27K new front rotors no rears
Rears done again at 46K
Fronts Done again at 51K

I am at 73K and my brake light came on. Should I do rotors and Pads? The rotors look in good shape but I don't want to push it once I get it all apart. Does this seem like the normal brake life for this car?

Also last spark plug change was at 30K should I do them again now.

New rotors are 30mm thick (front) if you have the 323mm (most likely)...25mm if you have the 312mm (less common). The theoretical wear limit on these rotors is 2mm...so measure thickness at middle (inside outer lip)...if you have 28mm or better (23mm if small rotors), you're good for another set of pads IF* needed.
Rears come in 2 sizes, too....269x20mm and 245x10mm...you probably have the larger size...2mm or less thinner is still good.

*If you got the brake pad warning (circle w/curved lines on each side), the pad warning sensors are only on the front brakes (on one pad only) and are prone to false warnings due to corrosion in the electrical connectors. So look at all of em, front and rear.

If you're getting any other type of brake warning, then you have other problems.

Sounds like they've been changed a little more often than average, unless they were used very heavily on a regular basis.

Spark plugs should be changed every 40K miles or less, depending on type. I always change em every 30-35K miles...even if they look good, the metal changes composition and a new set always feels better...runs stronger/smoother.

Thanks for the information. I am now trying to figure out what the proper oem spark plug is for the a8 2001 I hear Audie really prefer oem plug. I have the Audi part number but would prefer to buy else where. NGk or Bosch. I want to avoid ripping it apart then going to the parts store.
