mileage/kilometers conversion A8L 2004
Hello ,
I have a question on the AUDI A8L 2004. There is an option that you can convert Farenheit to Celsious and Miles to Kilometers on the MMI. My temperature conversaiton works fine but not the mileage. Does anybody know why? I tried the MMI on A6 and A8L 2005 at the audi showroom and it works perfect on those.
Also has anybody witness any slugishness on the MMI after doing the last upgrade? When I open from window to window I have notuiced some delay and also when i scroll down on option. I wonder if it is because of the cold or a problem with the upgrade
Thank you
Dimitris

RE: mileage/kilometers conversion
i went to the dealer and they had no clue what I was talking about. They called Audi and were told that it cannot be done.. When I tried myself in the showroom on the 2005 A6 and A8 models it worked fine. I called Audi and they told me that 2005 models can do it, 2004 cannot. However, I have the option on the MMI and i can select it.
I wonder if anybody who has an A8 2004 has the same problem or it works fine on their car.

RE: mileage/kilometers conversion A8L 2004
Yes I know it is very weird. I wonder, if anybody who has an A8L 2004 has the same problem or it works fine on their car. Audi is very vague about this. In the beginnning they insisited that it cannot work. Then I found out on A6 and A8L 2005 it works. Then they changed their story. They claim that the 2005 can do it not the 2004. However, I was told at the service in Audi that some 2004 models do it and some do not. I wonder if someone has a contact inside Audi so I can get a truthful answer and how it can be fixed.

RE: mileage/kilometers conversion A8L 2004
My first question to you is this: Will you be using the metric units and celcius in your car if it worked, or is this something you just fiddled with for fun and are now upset that it doesn't work. Because if it's the later, then I wouldn't worry so much. If it's the former, then yes, I would say there is something screwy going on. It could be as simple as certain models that year got a corrupted MMI computer and Audi doesn't want to admit it. If you really want this functionality then I would fight it. Start with the manager of the dealer you bought the car from. Then letters to Audi. I wish you luck...

Steviep,
thanks for your reply. I guess it is a little of both. I would use it sometimes but it is not essential. Thus, I do not worry too much. The temerature conversation works fine but not the mileage. I know the new A6 and A8 have the conversation function because i saw it. So I will have to agree with you that must be something faulty on the MMI. Audi of course denies it. They claim that this car was not meant to have that option although i can select it through the MMI. It is very unfortunate for a company like Audi to beat around the bush and trying to cover something instead of fixing it. I am having 2 more problems with the car and not only Audi has no clue of the problems but they claim that at least for the one of the problems, which was the upgrade on the MMI the slugishness I experience is normal. Oh my... what else will I hear from them........ oh well!!!!! I do not know anybody in Audi, and I can tell you right now that my represesntative.... she knows less than I do about the car. I have to admit this is my first Audi and I was impressed with the car as far as driving is concerned and was looking for a second. But after the way I have been treated from Audi I have serious second thoughts. Unless, I find someone in Audi that I can communicate.
Hope you are having luck with your car.
