My new toy! (got to wait 8 days till I get it though!)
 
I am now the owner of a 1999 Audi A8 D2! I collect it next Thursday! Just got to wait for a cheque from my work to clear in my account then I can forward the funds to the seller. I have paid a deposit.

Its a stunning black 1999 Audi A8 4.2 V8 Quattro Sport, Facelift Model.
The guy i am buying it from is an Audi Technician and has known this vehicle for around four years, having seen it yearly for its MOT and Service. When his customer decided to trade it in for a newer model he bought it there and then.

The guys misses now wants a mortgage, so the cars got to go. Its certainly one of the best models I have seen. Its only got £75k on the clock and the MOTs back this up. The original owner used to like to have the car serviced every year so most services have been carried out yearly, along with its MOT Test. The Tech just carried out its most recent service and changed the oil filter and the engine now has fresh Long Life Oil in it. In addition to this he changed the Brake Fluid as it was due for replacement he has also replaced the cambelt, cambelt tensioner and idler pulleys and the water pump (incorporating a coolant change at the same time). The cambelt tensioner damper was also replaced as a precautionary measure.

The vehicle has also had the Front Anti Roll Bar connecting links replaced recently as they were beginning to deteriorate. It has nearly new tyres (and spare!) the vehicle has had recent new front brake pads and discs, and new rear brake pads.

Money was no object to the vehicles original owner so anything that required doing was done! In 2007 nearly £600 was spent on it including a new Air Mass Meter, New Heater Control Flap Motor and New Mirror Glass.

The vehicle is treated to a wash and polish at least once a week and as the photos show the cars appearance belies its age of almost ten years.

The 1/2 Leather interior is in remarkable condition with no damage whatsoever. All the leather is regularly cleaned and fed with appropriate Audi Leather Care Kit, indeed the interior looks almost new! The original owner also has small pieces of carpet cut to shape, protecting the factory carpet mats!

Its in such good condition I can tell I am very quickly going to fall for it! Its was a dream to drive and I cant wait till I get it home!

Looks sooooo nice man! Congrats! I love the way the euro models look, an audi tech could never afford an A8 over here either. Hell maybe i should move to the UK.....

My new toy has broken leaving me standard in Bristol! Luckily I have friends who have put me up for the night.

Its still running ok, but its misfiring. The issue is just a slight juddering. It is currently in the Bristol Audi garage. They plugged in the diagnostics computer and where it registered a misfire, there are no fault codes. So tomorrow they have to go old skool and look for the fault manually. At £105 + vat diagnostics charge per hour, I just hope they find it soon.

Any ideas?

It can't register a misfire and not have a fault code, a misfire is a fault code on an OBDII car. It probably has a bad ignition coil.

don't let them waste your time or money... Buy yourself a VAG-com scanner to check for which cylinders are misfiring and which other codes you are getting behind the misfires. You do have error codes, but you may not have a CEL illuminated until the problem has gotten past a certain point of severity.

I had a similar problem and it ended up being that I needed to replace my jet suction pump (tubing) and the PCV (N75) because the JSP had caused a failure in the diaphragm of the PCV, which led to a sharp change in the pressure within the engine...this sounds and looks like sputtering slowly as if the car is struggling to breath... then eventually the car will start cutting off as the PCV gets progressively work and worse until your car can't run.
