Potential A8 buyer, info needed
Hi folks! Forum newbie here, already a VW owner (Mk1 Golf) and trying to expand my stable of VAG vehicles.
I found a 3.7L A8 Quattro for sale recently and I just wonder if any of the issues on it are indicative of it being a bit of a lemon.
To be honest it mostly looks quite good - it's got a ton of miles on it but I'm not so worried about that since I currently drive a Volvo with 200K, and it's still going strong. Pretty sure an Audi of similar miles (215K) would still be alright.
Main thing that worries me is the owner describes the steering as "sometimes heavy when turning right" which has been an issue since 2007. Obviously it's nothing critical because it's made it though 6 or 7 MOTs in that time, but is it the kind of thing that can potentially go from 'slight pain in the ***' to 'goodbye car' in a hurry?
Couple other minor things like the boot lid sensor on the dash sometimes lights up and the parking sensors are intermittent, but unless anyone here reckons they're indicative of more serious electrical issues I'm not too fussed. I'd guess since they both run to the rear of the car there might be a dodgy wire somewhere which would kinda suck but I could live with it.
So yeah, 3.7L A8 Quattro with slightly iffy steering and some blinky lights. One to avoid, or to go for?
[Edit] I should add I've had a nose around the forum for known issues and can't see anything similar so I'm kinda reassured by that. Just looking for some confirmation is all. Cheers!
