Prospective 8 owner

Hey all!
I am Zach, new to the forum, long time lover of Audi but have yet to own one. The opportunity to pick up an A8 has developed and I want to jump on it. the A8 is my dream Audi.
Heres some history on the one I am looking to get, I just wanted to get some Audi owners feedback. I have maintenance records on this particular one from the day it was sold at the dealer until now. here they are as follows:

vehicle sold 3/29/2004 Newport Auto Center
5/20/2004 battery/ Charging system/ starter checked
6/30/2005 recommended maintenance performed
electrical system checked
11/16/2005 tire condition and pressure checked
12/23/2005 engine/powertrain computer/ module checked
7/15/2005 recommended maintenance performed
10/18/2006 eninge/powertrain computer/module checked
4/7/2007 23k miles rear brake pads replaced, brake fluid flushed, door lock(s) replaced/repaired
1/21/2008 front brake pads replaced
7/1/2008 brake light switch replaced
8/20/2008 brake fluid flushed/changed, door locks replaced/repaired
8/18/2009 light bulbs replaced, tired mounted and balanced, 48k miles
2/20/2010 lift gate motor replaced, serpentine belt replaced
battery replaced, ignition coils replaced, charging system checked
5/13/2010 ignition coil replaced
9/25/2010 passed emissions
11/15/2011 69k miles brakes serviced
7/22/2013 sold at auction

I left some records out that I thought were not relevent.
2004 A8L 83k miles, in REALLY good shape inside and out. dealership asking $16995

what your take?

Now that you have the service history look into getting the carfax report. This could show you things that the maintenance would not. The dealer should be able to get this for free for you.

I pulled this info from the carfax report.

Sounds like an OK price. It's not a bargain. I paid 19,000 for my 07 A8 and it had 88K. I got it @ Manheim Auto Auction in PA. Is the 04 A8 you looking at fully loaded? Including 19-inch wheels, rear climate control, sunshades in the back, power trunk lid? Also what color combo? If it's Brilliant Black exterior w/ Amaretto interior than $16,995 is not bad for a fully loaded A8 in the best color combo. If it's just a regular model A8, then I think it's worth about 13-14K. Average wholesale on them right now between 10-11K. Dealers take them on trades for about 9-10K now adays. Don't let your self get ripped of. Keep in mind 04-06 A8s have timing belt and you will be due for one at 90K. Audi dealership charges between 1500-2000 for this job. I sell and drive Audis for the last decade, in my opinion spend a few grand extra and buy yourself and 07 A8 L with all the toys, way better car with less head aches. I hope this helps. Good luck.
