Well you might know me already as the guy asking advice on buying a used A8 here in Oman - well, I finally got it and she is a beauty! A couple of electrical problems which maybe someone can help with...

the rear window screen doesn't lower - the motor appears to be working and the support arms begin their move inward to start pulling the screen down but then stop after about 2 inches and a loud warning sort of noise comes on and the arms stop - they look stuck. Also, I can't seem to find a repair manual - Bentley's has 97 onward it looks like - anyone know where I could order one for the 95 D2 platform - is the 97 the same?

I have read several things about Transmission worries on these cars - what should I be looking out for? So far, everything seems ok - a little rough from D to R when it's cold and there is a pretty obvious shift into gear when pressing the accelerator at low rpms - for example, a rolling stop at a roundabout and then press the pedal to get going fairly quickly - from 1st into 2nd I guess - any worries there or just some age showing? Finally, what about these trannies? Should I only let some Audi magician work on them with the Audi ATF fluid or can I have a local garage who works only on German cars do the jobs?
