Replacing left axle, where can I find it rebuilt or new for cheap?
 

My left front axle has to be replaced, it is making clicking noises and my mechanic says that is a sign that it will break down soon, also has a torn CV boot which is dry.

From the dealer the left axle is over $700. Can anyone recommend a reputable place I can buy the axle for cheaper? I have found "axle assemblies" for a little over $100 on the internet, but am not sure thats all that I need.

BTW it's a 1997 A8 4.2 quattro.
