S8 issues

hey all.....after putting about 30k on my car in the past 6 months, i'm considering a move and a new car. i was looking at the 4.2 A6's before (wouldn't have been worth my time since i commute a little over 100 miles each day for work) and with the prospect of having a short commute to work....i'm jumping back on the audi bandwagon.

my question is this....would an older, higher mileage S8 be worth the extra investment? just browsing on ebay for a few minutes i found one with about 110k on it for around 15 grand.

i think that i've given up on the A6 in favor of the big daddy A8 and i don't mind buying an older car. i'm just curious if i should focus on getting the S8 or more on the regular model.

any input would be greatly appreciated.

I considered the S8 and S6 when looking for my last car. I ended up with the 4.2 A6 because I think it's the better looking car out of the 3. Plus I thought the S8 was too long for my tastes and looked a little boring but I loved the interior seats and engine power. I might have gone with the S8 if I didn't care about it's size but I do love my 4.2 A6.

An S8 doesn't have any more issues than the standard A8 4.2L or A6 4.2L, its just packing about 50 more horsepower. If you can find a decent S8 then jump on it. Just make sure the timing belt, water pump, rollers tensioners etc. are all done or get them done after you buy the car.
If he says the timing belt hasn't been done offer him 12k for the car or have him perform the timing belt/water pump service before you buy it.
