S8 probs...please help!!

Hi guys

I have got a 2006 Audi S8 which up untill now has been faultless!
I drove it earlier and everything was working fine. I got back into the car 10 minutes later and everything seems to be playing up!

There is a clicking noise (sounds like a relay) coming from the rear parcel shelf. Since the noise has appeared things have stopped working. The TV screen wont go back into the dash, the radio/cd/tv/sat nav etc wont work. The clock has gone back to 12am and I cannot adjust it, I cannot change any of the suspension settings etc.

Pretty much everything involved with the screen doesnt work!...I can select radio but it just says "please wait" then nothing happens and it just turns off?!

Any Ideas?...the clicking noise is driving me mad!!

Does the screen retract at all? Is the screen motor making a loud clicking noise when its trying to open or close? I wouldn't think you are hearing the clicking from the rear, rather right in front of you. Its common for the MMI screen motors to go out and make a really loud clunking/clicking. If thats not the problem there isn't anything you can do without hooking it up to a VAS 5052 (vag com won't work here) which is the dealer scan tool. Everything in the MMI system is in a fiber optic data loop, so if one thing goes out, everything on the loop goes to hell.

Hi mate

Thanks for your reply.
The clicking noise is definaltely coming from the back shelf which i agree is quite bizarre.
The screen itself is not making any clunking noises or even attempting to close. If i press the button to close it manually it just turns off. Then when I turn it back on nothing works and then it just switches itself off again!

I sounds like i will probably have to end up booking it in at audi then, thanks for your help

regards
James
