School me on A8's

Hi im Ryan and currently Drive a 96 Pearl white Avant with a 2.8.

I like my car but may decide on getting a diffrent Audi and have thought about the A8's. I have always liked them and well want to know more about them.

I would like to know what options can be in the car. When other features came out as the years went on.

The MPG on the car, I don't really care ( I had a 93 Caddy that got a mean 11 MPG so you know) but I would like to know.

What to look out for when shopping for one.

And is the 4.2 a hard motor to wrench on, I do my own work and I have already serviced my A6 alot.

If you have any links that I can look at that would be perfect, I would greatly appreciate it, Thanks.

RE: School me on A8's

well the first place to read up on the A8 is www.audipages.com. Everything you want to know about the D2 A8/S8. there is also a buyer's checklist on that page too. I just got my 1998 A8 4.2 about 3 months ago and love it. It has TONS of options like rear heated and lumbar seats, double paned glass, dual climate control and nice AC vents for the rear passengers too, heated steering wheel, etc. The only major thing to look out for is a bad transmission as the 97 & 98s are pretty notorious for having them go bad. forums.audiworld.com/a8 is the most informative forum out there for this car but its a little hard to navigate at first. I jumped into mine and so far i have been pretty pleased, but seriously, do your due diligence on the car and realize that if you DO need to take it to a shop, its expensive to fix. Good luck with your decision.

Ok then, thanks you. I really like my A6 Avant, but would like to get something newer atleast by one or two years.

I saw a silver S8 today and well it was nice.
