Sunroof Switch/Reading Light Cover Plate - Dimensions
 

Hello "A8 gents".
I am crossing the forum lines to ask for a favor. I already posted in the A6 forum and I apologize to the guys who give their generous replies in both forums (auditech79, etc).

I need to know the dimensions of the A8's sunroof switch cover plate. The particular one I am looking at is from a 1999 A8.
If someone can post that for me, I would really be grateful.

My quest is to find out if I can swap the sunroof switch plate on my A6 with an A8 one.
Probably the possible swap may need some modifications as far as the connectors go, but first I need to know the dimensions. If the A8 plate is smaller, then there' s no go anyway.

The power supply connector for the sunroof switch seems the same to me.
The potentiometer and the light connectors appear as where some modification may be needed.

The dimensions for the A6 cover plate are: L 8 2/8 inches X W 7 3/8 inches.

Any help and ideas would be truly appreciated.

It won't fit without causing a migraine getting it in. It wouldn't be woth the modification. If you need the plate and not the switch go to www.shokan.com and see if they have a used one you can buy, they are specialists in audi used parts.

I need the switch as well (now...lol), but I guess I can live without opening the sunroof.
