I have a 2004 a8l and recently switched out the temperature control unit problem the new unit comes on for a few seconds and then goes out. The sellers says that it has to be reprogrammed because of audi security feature, does anyone knows this to be the case.

Yes, it's called Component Protection, Audi dealers can do it and a few specialists.
