Thinking of getting an A8, wonderings what things I should know
So, I've been looking into getting a 2004 A8 L. The one I'm looking at has 128,864 miles and the dealer wants 11k for it. I plan to trade in my current car, a Toyota Celica. What sort of things should I be aware of? Do you think 11k is a good deal?

If timing belt service hasn't been done, plan on having it done day one. Line up a reputable European car mechanic. Keep $2,000 in the bank to get you through year one. Wash car by hand weekly to stay on top of break dust build up.
Despite all this negative stuff these cars are a thrill to drive, so enjoy!

loved my 5000's, and I have really enjoyed my 01' 8L.
had the tranny rebuilt at 155k, timing belt and water pump done at 98k, and the thermostat (behind the timing belt too) at 148k.
look for CV Boots, those are common.
so long as they have been maintained...awesome.
I am looking at an 04 right now too, and that 11k is right around the bottom-middle of the pricing. so sounds good to me.
