Timing Belt A8L 04
Guys...needs some advide my 2004 A8 just turn 80K, should I have to replace the timing belt right away or is possible to strecth the time a biy, the car has not driving by child whatsoever, so, the way economy is I want to wait at least a few more miles ....does anybody here in the same boat ?

Do it now before you regret it, if the belt breaks you WILL damage your engine meaning a 10k+ repair. When you do the belt, change the water pump, thermostat, rollers and tensioners. Better to be safe than sorry, most belts break in the 90k range.
TT's have broken belts in the 60k's. |
Thanks I just have that completed at 79K at the dealer....what a piece of mind!!
|
What did the dealer charge you for the timing belt replacement? Did you do the water pump also?
|
The replace belts - water pump Thermostat and pulleys. US$ 1.700 and is good for another 100k

I was assuming the service interval was 80k. I just called the local Audi dealer and they told me the service interval for the timing belt is 105k.

hmm, well, i know, AUDI prescribed replacement in 105K miles. If crack before, it's should be AUDI take responsibility for fixing.

Audi won't take any responsibility for broken timing belts, but i have heard they have released a TSB or recall to give a free inspection of timing belts before the 105k mark to make sure its ok.
