timing belt change

hi every one

I'm just curious, how much can cost timing belt change (2006 audi a8) ?

I'm done it on my a6 for $1400 or $1600, couple years ago directly from audi dealer.

I would plan on that much or more since a dealer charges upward of $200 for an A8 oil change. Find an independent euro shop and you'll pay 50-60% of that price.

Audi dealer quoted me $2200 for entire timing belt job:

Timing belt
Water pump
Serpentine belt
tensioners

Well hell if you guys are getting quotes like that, if you want to take a drive to upstate NY, I'll talk to the guys I work on cars with and see if we can set you up to come up here - we've done t-belts for several forum members and I'd be happy to put you in touch with them as references. We do it a LOT cheaper than that (no overhead and we aren't a dealership so we don't stick it up your butt on the price). Let me know if you're interested.

I just had my done about 5 months ago and they dealer charged me just little over $1,400. The euro shop that is in town charges about the same since he uses OEM parts for his repairs, usually he is cheaper.

Yeah the timing belt isn't any harder to do on an A8 than an A6, but the parts would cost slightly more. The only reason oil changes on an A8 cost $200 is because it takes 9.5 qts of full synthetic oil and you have to remove the half of the entire air intake system just to reach the oil filter.....
