My 2012 A8L (D4) has 90k miles and consistently fails to start when the engine is warm. An issue that has gotten progressively worse over the past 10k miles, or so. Absolutely no problems starting first thing in the morning for work. However, after driving for 20+ minutes, the engine is warm enough to fail. If I drive again within the next few hours, pushing the start button causes the car to turnover without cranking. Sometimes it will crank to about 800 rpm and then slowly idle down to 0, and shut off. My only recourse has been to rev the gas while the car is turning over so that it cranks at a much higher rpm. This hack works pretty much every time, but I can’t imagine it is good for the engine, two, I’d rather not have to hack this beautiful car to start it... I’ve read a few posts in the World for other model Audis and they describe similar issues that result from a faulty ECT sensor.

Has anyone had this issue with an A8 (D4)? Was the issue corrected by replacing the ECT, or some other method? Looking forward to you guys’ feedback.
