What happened to the W12?
New here so not sure if it has been discussed on here or not. I did do a search and could not find anything. Might have searched the wrong words.
I noticed that the corporate site shows the Q7 available in a V-12 TDI, and the A8 available in a W12. When I visit the US site. No 12 cylinder car is available. Will the US get the 12's back? |
I doubt it. It's a thirsty setup and they've developed newer, more powerful, more efficient engines like the twin-turbo 4.0 V8 that's set to come in the new S8, making 520hp in that state of tune. It's supposed to be lighter, more powerful, and more efficient, which pretty much kills the business case for continuing to use the 12s.

W12's are a pain in the ass gas hungry bitch motor. The S8's lambo V10 is superior to the W12 let alone the newer engines coming out. The V12 TDI motor is actually an older design originally made for the R10 racecar, which was later adapted to the Q7 in early 07.
