No idea but this should be covered in the Owners Manual. I've had my 03 A8 for 7 years now and am still learning things from the Owners Manual I didn't know about the car.

if I could have found the answer myself I would not have posted the question my friend......:(:o

I have a '10 A8L.....I was just curious because I see these same two buttons blank on almost every time.

Hmm... It's really untelling what the blank buttons could be. They could be spaces for other options that may come with the cars or nothing more than a design element.

You'd be surprise at how many questions get posted that can easily be found by cracking open the owners manual. LOL

300 views and no real responses on an Audi forum site......WTF. More than a little disappointed. I will find the answer and post. Christ.

Well since there is no lettering or symbol on those outside blank buttons, what do you think they are? Does Audi install "mystery" buttons on the dash for people to wrack their brains about? Probably not. Is it really driving you crazy that there is no documentation on those blank buttons? (I've deleted the snarky bit of my original reply) IF these buttons serve any purpose other than a design feature, it should be documented in the Owner's Manual regardless of whether your car has the corresponding options or not.

left side = intelligent stop-start off.
right side = almost always blank but on the Security model has a silhouette of the car with passenger front door open and is not illuminated.

dave944 12-07-2016 06:29 PM

Wouldn't this be documented in the Owner's Manual?

kcasciano 12-07-2016 09:25 PM

Thanks Snapdragon appreciate it

Dave, you've gone to the "should be in the owner's manual" about three times in this thread.....appreciate you trying to help but I don't have the owners manual because if I did I probably would not be posting the question.:):D
