Need to replace both lift gate struts?
 

I found nothing with a search here.
OEM Part Number: 8R0827552A
Dealers want $120 each.
After market reviews many say the cheapo replacement ones don't last long.

Any suggestions?

No guarantees, but check with Rock Auto. They carried replacement struts for my Crossfire SRT6 which is a lot rarer than your Q5. They have lasted five years, but I got 15 years out of the oem.
