Default Transmission Seal @ 3900 miles

I am new to this forum, so i appriciate any and all advice in advance. I recently purchased a 2015 Q5 with 3950 miles on it. We were allowed to take it over the weekend, but were told to bring it back in for an inspection prior to finalizing everything. Upon inspection they found a bad seal in in the transmission. We are now being told that they are shipping a new transmission from Germany to replace the entire transmission on our car. My questions is that one, is this a normal practice by Audi? Two; the car did not go through the precertification process, and did not get the extended warrenty. should we now ask for the certification? we are out of a car for the next two weeks or so.

thanks
